“Enter through the narrow gate;

for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction,

and there are many who enter through it.

For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life,

and there are few who find it.”

Matthew 7:13-14

The More Sure Word may seem to be a strange name for a web site. However, it makes sense when its source is known. The More Sure Word is a reference to a phrase found in 2 Peter 1:19.

17 For when He [Jesus] received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased” —
18 and we ourselves [Peter, James and John] heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
19 So we have the prophetic word made more sure [The More Sure Word], to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. (2Peter 1:17-19)

Peter is making reference in this passage to an incident that is described in Matthew’s gospel.

Whole Grain Bread is a blog with a particular objective: To provide those who desire to walk more fully by the leading of the Holy Spirit with spiritual food for their journey. Living in the Spirit requires more than religious platitudes. A successful life in, by and with the Spirit can only be sustained with solid food. Without solid food the body of Christ will not be able to satisfactorily fulfill its calling to grow and multiply.

The goal of The More Sure Word is to provide solid food for living in the Spirit. It is a sad commentary that the spiritual food served to congregants in the vast majority of churches today is milk and not solid food. Babies are fed a diet of milk, but adults require nourishment from solid foods such as bread, vegetables, meat and fish. But what is solid food as regards spiritual food? The Holy Spirit provides some answers in Hebrews chapter five.

 “So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
